Our program combines animal science and
biomedical science to help prepare
our students for a wide range
of careers.
Why Animal Bioscience?
The Animal Bioscience major helps prepare students for a variety of careers in veterinary medicine and the biomedical sciences. The program's strength is its combination of a typical animal science major's specialization with a biology major's breadth.
In the first two years, students obtain a solid foundation in the basic sciences including chemistry (general, organic and biochemistry), physics, biology, and mathematics. Animal bioscience requires for graduation all of the coursework that is required for admission to most U.S. veterinary schools.
During the third and fourth years, students may choose a more general curriculum or specialize in a a particular area, including physiology, genetics, nutrition, immunology, toxicology and many more.
